Job Title: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (Travel RN, Locum Tenens)
Location: Charlotte, NC 28207
Employment Type: Locum tenens, Travel Nursing Assignment
Healthcare Setting: Acute Medical/Surgical & Telemetry Overflow Unit
Facility: 207-bed hospital, Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center
Contract Start Date: October 20, 2025
Contract End Date: January 16, 2026
Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7pm start), 36 hours/week
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570-$1680
Scrub Color: Navy blue
Technology: Epic EMR, Alaris IV Pumps, Omnicell, Phillips Monitors
Floating: Required within region and scope of practice (paid travel time between facilities)

Med/Surg RN Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg and Telemetry RN experience
Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or compact state (NC RN license)
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Strong Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing skills: stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pumps
Medication gtt management: cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IV fluids
Ability to float to all units within scope at Mercy and within the Charlotte healthcare region

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, chest pain, stroke symptoms, and respiratory issues
Manage patient ratios of RN: 1:6 and collaborate with CNAs and clinical support staff
Perform and document patient assessments, administer medications, and manage IVs and drains
Work collaboratively with hospitalists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
Float to other units and facilities within the Charlotte region as needed
Utilize Epic EMR and hospital technology for comprehensive patient care
