Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Details

Assignment Type: Travel Nurse / Locum Tenens Contract
Location: Winston Salem, NC 27103 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
Unit: General Renal – Med/Surg Telemetry (41 beds, telemetry capable)
Start Date: September 8, 2025
End Date: January 26, 2026
Duration: 20 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15)
Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Float Requirement: Yes, within hospital and affiliate hospitals as needed
Orientation: 24 hours (2 shifts with preceptor plus EMR education)
Scrubs: Navy or White (not provided)
Estimated Weekly Salary: $1660-$1700

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience in a hospital setting
Active North Carolina or Compact RN license (required at time of start)
BCLS certification (required)
Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Strong skills in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
Preferred: ACLS and NIHSS certifications; Epic charting experience
Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
Experience caring for adult and geriatric patient populations

Nursing Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to renal and limb preservation patients, including those with ESRD, ARF, CHF, diabetes, and vascular procedures
Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response situations
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including hospitalists, RN navigators, nursing assistants, dietary, PT/OT, and pharmacy
Administer blood products, manage central and peripheral lines, and adhere to isolation precautions
Document patient care using EPIC EMR and follow SBAR communication standards
Participate in daily team meetings to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Float to other units as required and adapt to varying patient ratios (typically 1:5-6)
