Job summary

College Medical Center Long Beach is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant to provide continuous observation and support for Med-Surg patients at the Main Campus. You will maintain visual contact with assigned patients at all times, assist with daily living activities, and help create a safe environment by removing hazards and monitoring visitors.

You will promptly communicate changes in condition to the nursing team, accompany patients during transport for tests, and complete required observation

Qualifications

• Current BLS (AHA) for healthcare provider and CPI certificate (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
• High school diploma or GED; one year experience in assisting in the care of patients in an acute inpatient setting preferred.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate assistance to patients on the unit.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant attendance by remaining within visual contact of the patient at all times.
• Never leaves patient unattended.
• Refer patient requests to nursing staff via call light system/intercom to summon staff or needed equipment/supplies.
• Accompany patient during transport for diagnostics/tests and stay within line of sight unless directed otherwise.
• Remains in patient room at all times and obtains permission before leaving for breaks/meals.
• Document observations on flow sheets as instructed.
