Job summary

Avala is seeking a Med/Surg Registered Nurse to provide direct and indirect patient care on the unit, coordinating with physicians, nurse managers, and staff to respond to changes in condition and test results.

The role includes performing head-to-toe assessments, managing pain, administering medications safely, and contributing to performance improvement and CQI activities, with potential charge nurse duties under supervision.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Ability to perform head-to-toe assessments and reassess as per policy.
• Competence in medication administration and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supervises patient care and communicates with team.
• Prepare patients for examinations or procedures and assist as needed.
• Perform head-to-toe assessments and interpret data to plan care.
• Assess and manage pain; educate patients and families.
• Perform waived testing and draw blood; interpret results.
• Make clinical decisions with good judgment; report changes.
• Administer medications safely per five rights and protocols.
• Maintain central/PICC line care and cardiac monitoring.
• Demonstrate CPR and emergency response; ensure patient safety.
• Formulate and adjust individualized care plans; involve patient/family.
• Document thoroughly (H/P, consents, handoffs, med admin).
• Provide education on performance improvement; participate in CQI.
