Job summary

Appling-Healthcare-System seeks a Med Surg / ICU Free Charge RN to oversee daily operations in assigned units without a patient assignment. This role provides leadership, coordinates care, supports staff, and ensures safe, high-quality care delivery. It includes oversight of outpatient infusion services and safety practices.

The shift is 6:30p-6:30a. The Free Charge RN acts as a clinical resource and liaison among staff, physicians, and leadership, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific)
• BSN preferred
• Minimum 3–5 years of acute care experience (Med Surg and/or ICU required)
• BLS required; ACLS required (ICU setting); PALS required; CPI required

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily staffing assignments and patient flow for Med Surg and ICU units
• Act as the primary clinical resource for nursing staff during the shift
• Provide real-time problem-solving and decision-making support
• Oversee outpatient infusion services and safety practices
• Mentor and support nursing staff including new hires and float staff
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care coordination
• Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices and quality indicators
