Job summary

Tennova Healthcare - North Knoxville is seeking a Director of Med/Surg to lead the medical-surgical department, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and operational excellence.

You will oversee clinical operations, budgeting, staffing, and performance metrics, collaborating with physicians and staff to coordinate patient care and drive quality initiatives while supporting staff development and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of direct healthcare leadership experience in lieu of degree.
• Master's degree is preferred for advanced leadership roles.
• 3-5 years of related field experience with Bachelor's degree required.
• 3-5 years of leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees clinical operations in the medical-surgical department ensuring safe, efficient care.
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Manages departmental budgets, staffing, and resources for financial efficiency.
• Monitors KPIs and quality metrics and leads improvement initiatives.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and drives accreditation readiness.
• Fosters communication between clinical staff, administration and stakeholders.
