Job summary

Ochsner is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant (CNA) to work under the supervision of licensed nurses in patient care. You will participate in basic patient care, monitor safety, document tasks, and communicate effectively with patients and staff.

The role requires CNA certification with BLS and CPI within 30 days of hire, plus proficiency with computers and good organizational skills. Flexibility for varied shifts is a must.

Qualifications

• CNA certification required; BLS certification within 30 days of hire; CPI certification within 30 days of hire.
• Proficiency in using computers, software and web-based applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; professional interaction with patients, families and staff.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population and respects privacy across interactions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
