Job summary

Simple Laboratories is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technical Supervisor to supervise and support lab staff across Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Micro, and Coagulation/Immunology. The role targets a fast-paced reference laboratory and serves as the first point of contact for questions, issues, or escalation, with career trajectory toward a managerial path.

Core hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with flexibility and alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, CLIA or Medical Technology program from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 3 years in a high complexity laboratory with competency in all assays within 6 months of hire.
• MLS/MT (ASCP), AMT or another national accreditation; meets CLIA requirements for high complexity testing personnel.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support colleagues with strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support laboratory staff, including benching where needed.
• Conduct/oversee quality assurance and quality control; analyze and interpret lab results.
• Ensure adequate staff coverage and organize daily lab activities.

Job description

Simple Laboratories is looking for an experienced Laboratory Technical Supervisorto supervise and support lab staff, including benching (Generalist): Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Micro, and Coagulation and Immunology/Serology. Successful candidates should feel comfortable working with specimens and can work in a fast-paced reference laboratory environment, while serving as the first point of contact for questions, issues or determining need for appropriate escalation. This roles career trajectory is positioned for Manager.

Core Hours:

9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with flexibility and alternating weekends.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis and reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
• Conduct chemical analysis of bodily fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into computer
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance
• Operate laboratory equipment and instruments; record data and maintain equipment
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed
• Use universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from bio-hazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for supervising and providing laboratory staff support, including benching where needed.
• Conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control, and collecting, analyzing, and interpreting lab results.
• Ensuring adequate staff coverage
• Identifying as needed and implementing new procedures, methods, and instruments.
• Ensuring all training, accreditation, and competency standards are met.
• Help organize and direct the daily activities of the laboratory under the guidance of the Laboratory VP.
• Perform high-quality work meeting or exceeding deadlines with or without direct supervision from Laboratory VP.
• Interact professionally with other colleagues and clients on all assignments or requests.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree: Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or Medical Technology program from an accredited institution required.
• Minimum 3 years in a high complexity laboratory. (Must be able to demonstrate competency in all assays within the designated department, within 6 months of hire.)
• MLS/MT (ASCP), AMT or another national accreditation required. Meets CLIA requirements for high complexity testing personnel.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support colleagues and coworkers, with highly developed analytical, interpersonal, collaborative, and positive communication skills.
