Job summary

AKG is seeking an Electro-Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer in Mebane, NC to lead cross-functional teams designing thermal management units and heat exchangers for rail, industrial, and energy storage applications. You will integrate mechanical, electrical, and control subsystems into complete thermal solutions.

The role requires a mechatronics background and experience with system-level engineering, fabrication, and production release, including safety standards like NFPA 70/NEC and UL 508A.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering with integration experience.
• 2–4 years of rail or industrial power systems experience preferred.
• Experience bridging mechanical, electrical, and controls integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams for thermal management products from concept to production.
• Perform system-level engineering bridging mechanical components with electrical controls and panels.
• Manage project lifecycle including design reviews, PPAP/APQP processes, and validation testing.
• Conduct thermal calculations and system simulations to size and optimize units.
• Coordinate with design, operations, quality, purchasing and R&D, including travel as needed.
• Collaborate with electrical and controls teams for power electronics integration and interfaces.
