Bühler Group offers a 3-year apprentice program in a dynamic industrial setting. Apprentices earn a debt-free associate degree of applied science and are paid full-time Bühler employees throughout the program, with benefits.

Wages start at $15/hr, rising to $17/hr and $19/hr over the 3 years, while hands-on learning aligns with real-world projects. You will install, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain production equipment, learn automation, and travel to sites for training and service

Apprentices earn a debt-free associate degree of applied science and gain skills in the mechanical and electronic field.

The apprenticeship is a formalized, 3-year dual training program that combines structured on-the-job training and related technical instruction. We connect learning directly to the world of work. Apprentices are paid, full-time employees of Bühler for the entire length of the program and receive benefits. Earn while you learn! All training, classes, tools, books, uniforms and a computer are paid for by Bühler.

Apprentices receive an hourly wage of $15/hr the first year, $17/hr the second year, and $19/hr the third year.

This is where you'll excel

• Follow safety procedures, quality standards and industry best practices in all work activities.
• Install, inspect, commission, troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial production equipment and systems.
• Analyze mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automation-related issues and implement effective solutions.
• Read, interpret and apply technical drawings, electrical schematics, manuals and engineering documentation.
• Build, test, modify and maintain industrial control systems and automation solutions.
• Install, test, maintain and troubleshoot electrical assemblies, motors, drives, sensors and control components.
• Assemble, disassemble, secure, transport and recommission machinery and process systems.
• Use precision measuring equipment, hand tools, power tools and metalworking machinery safely and effectively.
• Install, configure and support hardware, software and industrial control applications.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections and equipment assessments to ensure reliability and performance.
• Support equipment start-ups, customer installations, service interventions and commissioning activities.
• Document technical work, service activities, troubleshooting efforts and maintenance findings accurately and professionally.
• Collaborate with customers, field service engineers, technicians, project teams and other departments to resolve technical challenges.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge and stay current with new technologies, automation solutions and industry trends.
• Travel frequently to customer and company locations for hands-on training, field assignments and service-related work when not attending school.
• Embrace and responsibly use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in daily work to support learning, troubleshooting, documentation, productivity and continuous process improvement, in accordance with company policies and best practices.

These are the skills you'll need

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age prior to their program start date.
• High school diploma or GED required by the start of the apprenticeship.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability and willingness to pass a criminal background check.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently during the apprenticeship and extensively after graduation as part of a Field Service Engineer role.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn, embrace, and responsibly apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools as part of daily work.
• Technical College placement test scores must fall within an acceptable range.
• Strong interest in mechanical, electrical, automation, and industrial technologies.
• Demonstrated willingness to learn, solve problems, and work in a hands-on technical environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional setting.
• High level of reliability, integrity, and accountability, with the ability to earn trust and represent Bühler professionally in customer-facing environments.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
