Job summary

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) invites high-potential students to join the summer internship program in the DTSV Mechatronics Engineering Powertrain Integration team. This role offers hands-on experience with electrical and software systems powering commercial vehicles, including controller development, software testing, wiring diagrams, and feature validation.

May/June start across DTNA locations in the US. Interns may transition to full-time based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s program or recent graduate within 1 year in Electrical, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering.
• Familiarity with CAN and Automotive Ethernet networks.
• Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic communication protocols.
• Understanding of software development or software testing.
• Strong interest in mechatronics and vehicle electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage Engine Controller parameters with feature owners.
• Update and maintain vehicle wiring diagrams for powertrain interface.
• Develop and maintain test cases to evaluate software releases.
• Use CANalyzer, DiagnosticLink, VEPS and related tools.
• Read wiring diagrams and schematics to create inputs.
• Meet with feature owners to define testing requirements.
• Foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture.
