Florence-Darlington Technical College seeks a full-time Mechatronics instructor to deliver high-quality classroom teaching, advise students, and assist with graduate placement and orientation. The role includes curriculum development, lab oversight, and active participation in college committees.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience across industrial electrical systems, automation and robotics, plus strong communication and organizational skills for student success and program growth.
Provide classroom instruction for students, academic advising, assist in graduate placement, attend graduation ceremonies, assist with student orientation/registration, revise curricula, develop new courses, design new programs, revise instruction materials, remain current in teaching field, work on college committees and promote institutional objectives.
Associate degree or higher in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automation Technology, or a closely related technical field. One (1) to five (5) years of relevant industrial experience in mechatronics, industrial maintenance, manufacturing automation, or related field. A demonstrated hands‑on knowledge and experience in several of the following areas: Industrial electrical systems and troubleshooting motor controls and relay logic, programmable logic controllers (PLC's); industrial automation and control systems; mechanical power transmission systems; pneumatics and hydraulics; sensors, switches, and industrial instrumentation; electrical schematics; wiring diagrams, and print reading. Industrial Safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Ability to provide hands‑on laboratory instruction and demonstrate the proper use of industrial tools, test equipment, and training systems. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to advise students, maintain instructional records, assess student learning, and perform required instructional and administrative duties.
The minimum as listed, plus experience with industrial robotics, CNC/manufacturing automation, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor controls, and automated manufacturing systems. Experience integrating mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computer‑controlled systems. Industry recognized certifications or documented specialized technical training preferred. Prior teaching, technical training, apprenticeship instruction, or work‑force development experience is preferred.
Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 5:30 pm, Friday, 8:00 am - 11:30 am (or adherence to class schedule).
