Job summary

Global Sports Jobs Limited seeks a Research Engineer – Mechatronics to design, prototype, and validate electromechanical golf equipment systems. You will develop sensor mounts, wiring, and firmware, and create real-time data platforms for analysis.

The role requires hands-on lab work, strong mechatronics expertise, and collaboration across R&D, engineering, and external partners. Onsite work in a lab environment with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Expert-level understanding of electromechanical systems integrating mechanical structures, electrical circuits, actuators, sensors, and controllers into prototypes.
• Proficiency in reading and creating wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and PCB layouts.
• Hands-on sensor selection, integration, calibration, and characterization including noise floors, bandwidth, dynamic range, operating limits, and environmental constraints.
• Experience with IoT architectures and wireless protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, LoRa, MQTT) and embedded data transmission systems.
• Proficiency with prototyping tools and bench instrumentation (breadboarding, soldering, scopes, meters, signal generators, data acquisition).
• Strong programming skills in embedded C/C++ and Python or MATLAB for data processing, test automation, and hardware interfacing; knowledge of OpenCV preferred.
• Ability to build user-facing apps and interfaces to present hardware data and system status; familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows.
• Familiarity with CREO or similar CAD for sensor mounts and enclosures.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• BS/MS/PhD in relevant field; 5+ years hands-on mechatronics or embedded systems experience; PhD with applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, wire, assemble, and test mechatronic systems used in golf equipment evaluation and product development.
• Develop wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical specs for hardware assemblies and test rigs.
• Select, integrate, and characterize sensors (IMUs, load cells, encoders, etc.) and define calibration requirements.
• Design and implement IoT and wireless data acquisition platforms for real-time performance data.
• Develop embedded firmware and control software for microcontrollers and processors to drive test automation and data capture.
• Write clean code to interface with hardware and build user-facing interfaces and dashboards.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate prototyping and automate test routines.
• Apply computer vision techniques to support equipment and performance analysis.
• Define technical requirements across disciplines and document designs with schematics, BOMs, and tests.
• Perform other related duties as required.
