Job description

Mechatronics Controls Engineer for Cartesian RoboticsBuild motion that moves industriesPicture this: a manufacturer needs a cartesian robot to speed up precision handling. You review their requirements, select an actuator with profile rail and a ball/lead screw, size a servo and drive with accurate load calculations, and implement safety, sensors, and controls. You program the PLC in IEC 61131-3, tune the axes for crisp performance, and wire a clean, well-labeled panel. When testing reveals a hiccup, you read the schematics, troubleshoot the panel, and iterate until it runs flawlessly. Along the way, you coordinate with vendors, customers, sales, and fellow engineers—and when the application demands something new, you help shape the next PBC Linear product.Your impactServe as a technical authority for linear motion systems, components, and actuators.Own design, component selection, and troubleshooting using stepper motors, servo motors, drives, sensors, and safety equipment.Analyze loads to properly size motors and drives.Tune servo/stepper-driven linear motion systems to meet demanding motion profiles.Program PLC systems with IEC 61131-3 languages; integrate drives and field devices.Install and wire electrical components into control panels; read and produce electrical control schematics.Diagnose and correct faults in existing electrical panels.Support customer applications and linear motion test stands—from design and construction through operation and troubleshooting.Communicate effectively with engineering colleagues, vendors, and customers on controls opportunities and issues.Apply broad mechatronics knowledge across controls, software, and mechanical actuator systems.Use electrical design software to document and validate control architectures.Partner with sales and customers to translate requirements into the right PBC Linear products—or assist in creating new solutions where gaps exist.Enhance tooling and tests with optional C++, C#, or Visual Basic skills. What you’ll bringProven, hands-on understanding of servo and stepper motor dynamics, PLCs, controls, and drive systems.Exposure to linear motion elements including actuators, profile rail, ball screws, lead screws, and linear bearings (preferred).Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related 2-year technical degree; preferred fields include Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics.Life at PBC LinearPBC Linear (A Pacific Bearing Company) is a global leader in linear technology and a proud local manufacturer committed to our associates and our community. We thrive on challenge and move fast in a dynamic environment. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, STD, LTD, AD&D, and Aflac.Equal EmploymentPBC Linear is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
