Job summary

Columbia Machine Inc in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Mechatronics Controls Engineer to design, program, integrate, test, and commission automated machinery across electrical, controls, robotics, and SCADA systems. You will work with mechanical and electrical engineers, service teams, and suppliers through the product lifecycle from concept to field startup.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in industrial automation, strong PLC/HMI/SCADA experience, and travel up to 30% for customer site

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, or Robotics Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in industrial automation, controls, robotics, or machine design.
• Experience with Rockwell and Mitsubishi PLCs.
• Experience with FactoryTalk ME and FactoryTalk View SE.
• Experience with robotics and vision systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, program, test, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, motion control, SCADA, and robotic systems.
• Configure and commission controls systems, servo systems, VFDs, industrial networks, sensors, and vision systems.
• Design machine control logic, safety circuits, and operational sequences.
• Develop automation standards, reusable software modules, and engineering documentation.
• Support remote diagnostics, troubleshooting, and performance improvements.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers, and service teams for seamless integration.
• Travel to customer sites for startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, optimization, and training.
