Job summary

Schaeffler’s Cooperative Education Program offers a co-op opportunity to gain engineering experience in the Engine or Chassis domains. Students collaborate with engineering teams on daily tasks, contributing to innovative, challenging projects that align with current research and development initiatives.

The program exposes students to Schaeffler’s processes, emphasizes hands-on training, and prepares for a transition to a full-time role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication ability (written & verbal).
• Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results.
• Assertive approach to solving problems.
• Ability to prioritize.
• The ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods, and lift and move thirty pounds.
• SAE collegiate competition team preferred.
• 3D CAD modeling and software preferred.
• Mechanical hobbyist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support hardware architecture design, including component sizing and selection, contributing to development and/or validation of complex mechatronic systems.
• Perform data analysis in supporting system characterization/modeling, continuous improvement efforts, calibration, triage and validation activities.
• Develop algorithms to enable intended system function in coordination with requirements.
• Interfacing teams – communicate with cross-functional teams to complete tasks.
• Be responsible, able to work independently, and open to instruction.
• Development opportunities through projects, job-rotation, hands-on training.
