Job summary

Schaeffler is offering a Co-op Mechatronics Engineering position for Winter 2027 in Troy, Michigan. You will work with our engineering team on cutting-edge motion technology projects within Engine or Chassis, gaining practical experience aligned with Schaeffler's R&D initiatives.

The program provides hands-on tasks, development opportunities, and exposure to hardware architecture, data analysis, and algorithm development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication ability (written & verbal).
• Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results.
• Assertive approach to solving problems.
• Ability to prioritize.
• 3D CAD modeling and software preferred.
• Mechanical hobbyist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support hardware architecture design, including component sizing and selection, in contributing to development and/or validation of complex mechatronic systems (e.g., selection of mirco-processors, sensors, actuators, DAQ devices, signal processing circuits for HiL test environments)
• Perform data analysis in supporting system characterization/modeling, continuous improvement efforts, calibration, triage and validation activities
• Develop (i.e., architect, design, implement, validate, and parameterize) algorithms to enable intended system function in coordination with stakeholder and application requirements
• Interfacing teams – effectively communicate with these cross functional teams in order to effectively complete assigned tasks
• Need to be responsible, able to work independently, and open to instruction
• S/he will be given developmental opportunities through tasks such as projects, job-rotation, hands-on training, and exposure to Schaeffler's technological processes
