Job summary

Schaeffler invites engineering students to join its Co-op program in Michigan. You’ll work on engine or chassis projects, learn from experienced engineers, and contribute to real research and development initiatives during the term.

The program emphasizes hands-on design, testing, and collaboration with the engineering team, with multiple training formats and future full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester.
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication ability (written & verbal).
• Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results.
• SAE collegiate competition team preferred.
• 3D CAD modeling and software preferred.
• Mechanical hobbyist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support design tasks, including calculation, simulation, CAD modeling, analysis, component sizing.
• Component or system level mechanical testing.
• Component teardown analysis – physical teardown, inspection pictures, documentation.
• Interfacing teams – effectively communicate with cross-functional teams to complete tasks.
• Work independently and be open to instruction.
• Development opportunities through projects, job-rotation, training, and exposure to Schaeffler’s processes.

Your Key Responsibilities

The Co-op will be assigned an engineering project aligned with Schaeffler’s current research and development initiatives within the Engine or Chassis departments. In addition, the Co-op will collaborate closely with the engineering team on a daily basis, contributing to a range of innovative and technically challenging projects.

Key responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Support design tasks, including calculation, simulation, CAD modeling, analysis, component sizing
• Component or system level mechanical testing
• Component teardown analysis – physical teardown, inspection pictures, documentation
• Interfacing teams – effectively communicate with these cross functional teams in order to effectively complete assigned tasks
• Need to be responsible, able to work independently, and open to instruction
• S/he will be given developmental opportunities through tasks such as projects, job-rotation, hands-on training, and exposure to Schaeffler's technological processes

Your Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
