Job summary

Applied Atomics LLC is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer to design, develop, and validate mechanisms that control reactivity and safety systems for our FOAK reactor products. You will tackle high-temperature, radiation environments and ensure long-life reliability in a fast-paced hardware setting.

The role involves concept development, trade studies, material selection, detailed analyses, and qualification testing, with daily collaboration across engineering teams to scale first-of-a-kind nuclear

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years designing mechanisms; 2+ years with MS.
• Strong structural analysis skills using hand calcs and FEA tools.
• Experience with CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, Creo).

Responsibilities

• Ownership of critical mechanisms, including reactivity control and safety actuators.
• Lead trade studies and concept development for reliability and safety.
• Perform structural analysis to determine integrity and margins.
• Develop manufacturing processes, BOMs, and supplier interaction.
• Prepare reports, drawings, and technical documents.
