Job summary

Valar Atomics in Kentucky is seeking a Principal Instrumentation & Controls Hardware Engineer to own the architectural direction across reactor and fuel facilities. You will define the I&C hardware roadmap, instrument platform choices, and OT network strategy for our first‑of‑a‑kind program, balancing innovation with nuclear safety and quality.

You will govern design authority, oversee SIS architecture, lead high‑consequence reviews, and represent the discipline to regulators and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Systems engineering.
• 10+ years of instrumentation or I&C engineering experience.
• End-to-end ownership of instrumentation hardware across major projects.

Responsibilities

• Define I&C hardware architecture and technology roadmap for reactor program.
• Direct SIS architecture selection and safety-significant designs.
• Lead design reviews, licensing interactions, and regulatory communications.
• Build engineering capability and mentor senior engineers.
