Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking aMechanisms Engineer to join a Federal Consulting company located inMidland, TX (fully on site). TheMechanisms Engineerwill support the design, assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft mechanisms, contributing to the rapid production and deployment of a next-generation satellite constellation. This work is 100% on site, with relocation assistance and meal stipend provided in addition to salary and benefits.

Responsibilities of the Mechanisms Engineer:
  • Assemble, integrate, and test spacecraft mechanisms, including thousands of moving parts per satellite
  • Develop and operate ground support equipment for vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum testing
  • Analyze test data, determine pass/fail criteria, and support spacecraft integration and launch operations
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure mechanism performance from design through mission deployment
  • Troubleshoot anomalies, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to design improvements
Requirements for the Mechanisms Engineer:
  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or related engineering fields
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly, testing, and integration of space hardware
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, thermal chambers)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility for occasional weekend and early morning work (e.g., 4 AM deployments)
Compensation for the Mechanisms Engineer:

Salary Range:$85,000 – $95,000+ depending on experience
