Job summary

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding seeks a skilled welder to perform welding on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies per engineering drawings and specifications. You will determine layouts and welds to required tolerances and may monitor quality under control procedures.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent with related experience; an associate's degree or apprenticeship and 1 year of related experience is preferred. Certification may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years related experience
• Apprentice graduate or Associate's Degree in relevant discipline with 1 year related experience
• Certification may be required

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies to required tolerances.
• Determine layouts and welds per engineering drawings and specifications.
• May monitor and verify quality under statistical process control or other procedures.
