Job summary

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Findlay, Ohio is hiring immediately for a Mechanical Utility/Millwright Apprentice role. You will assist Millwrights, perform rack repairs, support conveyor systems, and help maintain safe, efficient production in a heavy industrial setting.

Shifts are 12‑hour nights, 6pm to 6am, 2‑2‑3 schedule. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, welding certification, and the ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required
• Welding certificate or demonstrated welding competency (MIG/Stick)
• Able to lift heavy materials, climb, stand, and work at heights
• Experience or VOAG training in industrial maintenance is preferred
• Must pass aptitude test administered by an outside party

Responsibilities

• Perform rack repair and maintenance (green tire racks, wing carts, tread trays, etc.)
• Assist Millwrights with repairs to conveyor belts and line shafts
• Provide fire watch and confined-space watch as needed
• Use welding helmet and related tools; operate cutting torches and hand tools
• Adhere to safety procedures; wear PPE and maintain safe work environment

Base Pay:

$25.37 an hour. Night crew would get an additional $0.65 cent shift differential.

Shift:

12hr nights 6pm-6am 2-2-3 work schedule

TheMechanical Utilityposition will have general duties such as rack repair including but not limited to green tire racks, wing carts, tread trays, etc. Will also have responsibilities such as fire watch, confined space watch, and assisting Millwrights with repairs such as conveyor belts, heavy items, line shaft, etc. Mechanical Utility will have assigned work specific to individual departments as well as tasks that cover the entire plant. Required tools will be welding helmet and support equipment, cutting torch, cutoff tool, band saw as well as general hand tools such as small portable toolbox, gloves, wrench set, allen wrench set (SAE & Metric), hammer, wire brush, etc. Ideal candidates for the Mechanical Utility position have PIT Operation experience, read general prints and follow job plans.

• Punctuality and attendance are extremely important to the success of the operations in general as well as contributing to an overall positive team atmosphere. Dependable job attendance is expected.

• The job is within a fast paced, heavy industrial environment.
• The environmental conditions can be hot, cold, and noisy.
• Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures / guidelines must be always adhered to. This includes safety wear such as hearing and eye protection, protective clothing, and steel-toed shoes.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future

• Welding certificate or testing competency (MIG and Stick)
• 2 years industrial experience with tasks related to the position or VOAG school completion
