Job summary

Hargrove Engineers + Constructors is seeking a Mechanical-focused Turnaround Planner to support site turnarounds. You will prepare plans, attach documentation, and validate plans as part of a dedicated validation team while coordinating with foremen and supervisors across disciplines.

Key duties include gathering status updates, attending SCR meetings, ensuring seamless handoffs to QA/QC and Operations, and closing out all job packs. Strong scheduling and communication skills are essential.

  • Requires strong scheduling and cost-control capabilities.
  • Experience coordinating with engineers, contractors, and QA/QC teams.
  • Ability to estimate task durations and manage project controls deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare job plans for all work in assigned area using JMS, materials requests and contractor instructions.
  • Attach all relevant documentation to the plan, including drawings, photos and procedures.
  • Validate job plans as part of the validation team.
  • Prepare workbooks for supervisors with copies of paperwork.
  • Collect status updates and report at daily schedule updates.
  • Attend SCR meetings to understand new work and ensure it’s passed to scheduler.
  • Coordinate handoffs from trades to QA/QC and Operations; close out all job packs.

What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: Support site turnarounds as a Mechanical focused Turnaround Planner.Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Pre-OverhaulPrepare job plans for all work in assigned area using, JMS, materials request, contractor instructions.Attach all relevant documentation to the plan, including;DrawingsPhotosTest proceduresCleaning proceduresValidate job plans as part of the validation team.Prepare workbooks for all supervisors in assigned area with copies of all paperwork needed.Work with all foremen to assist work familiarization.During ExecutionCollect status updates for all jobs in assigned areas and provide updates at the daily schedule update meeting.Attend daily SCR meeting to understand new work for their area.Ensure that SCR work is planned and passed to scheduler for adding to the schedule.Monitor SCR material availability to allow management of SCR work.Work with foremen to identify changes needed on regular job plans and make the changes in PlanIT for future re-use.Ensure seamless handoff of work from trades to QA/QC and then to Operations.Ensure all job packs are properly closed out.Ideal BackgroundEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field is highly preferred.Certification: AACE International or Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is preferred.Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.Extreme attention to detail.Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines.Understanding of existing and potential customer deliverable expectations and preferences.Ability to set priorities.Ability to effectively discuss and correspond with engineering disciplines and/or contractors to ascertain and understand pertinent information concerning schedules, scopes of work, estimates and/or project costs.Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.Excellent presentation skills.Excellent organizational skills.Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of efforts.Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all project controls deliverables.Experienced in scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of project controls work.
