Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Orlando is seeking a Mechanical and Tool Inspector responsible for in-process and final inspections on machined parts, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and coated components. You will use CMMs and precision instruments to verify critical dimensions to tight tolerances and ensure functionality per requirements before shipment.

The role requires US citizenship, ability to obtain a Secret clearance, and willingness to work 1st, 2nd, or 3x12 shifts with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Prior Mechanical Quality inspection experience.
  • GD&T knowledge and blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools.
  • CMM experience or CNC machining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process, courtesy, quality witness and final inspections on machined parts and assemblies.
  • Inspect mechanical assemblies using CMMs and check critical dimensions to tight tolerances.
  • Verify functionality per customer requirements and prepare for certification and acceptance.
  • Use precision inspection instruments and gauges per drawing criteria.

Standard Job Description

You will be the Mechanical and Tool Inspector for the Missiles and Fire Control team. Our team is responsible for producing some of the world's most advanced weapon and sensor technology through ultra-precision machining, additive manufacturing, and the development of complex optical components and sophisticated electronic systems.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Mechanical and Tool Inspector, you will be responsible for performing in-process / courtesy / quality witness / final inspections on machined parts, electro-mechanical, mechanical, composite, integrated systems and various coatings including chemical conversion coating, military grade primer / paint, powder coat and anodize.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Performing in-process / courtesy / quality witness / final inspections on machined parts, electro-mechanical, mechanical, composite, integrated systems and various coatings.
  • Inspecting mechanical assemblies utilizing Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs) for structural flaws and checking critical dimensions to extremely close tolerances.
  • Ascertain functionality in accordance with prescribed company and customer requirements and specifications which may be presented to the customer for certification and acceptance prior to shipment.
  • Utilizing a variety of precision inspection instruments and gages to perform inspections per drawing criteria, including critical dimensions to extremely tight tolerances.

Must have the ability to work different shifts (1st shift / 2nd shift/ 3x12 shift Fri-Sun) at times based on seniority prioritization in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Lockheed Martin and the UAW.

Must have the ability to work overtime including weekends depending on Business Unit needs.

Basic Qualifications
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Prior Mechanical Quality inspection experience
  • CMM experience or CNC machining experience
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Engineering/blueprint drawing reading/interpretation.
  • Experience utilizing precision measurement tools
Desired Skills
  • SAP experience.
  • Tool inspection/Calibration/ Metrology experience.
  • Ability to perform manual measurements.
  • Experience with aerospace hardware.
  • Familiar with military specifications.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Pay Information
  • $27.04 - $43.42
