Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical Thermal Engineer in the MA&T department to perform comprehensive thermal analyses across product lifecycles, from design trade studies to production support. The role requires handling classical hand analyses and finite element methods with industry-standard tools.

You will plan tests, reduce data, and correlate thermal models while presenting results to customers and peers, ensuring cost and schedule adherence in a challenging aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in STEM obtained by start date.
• Experience in thermal analysis using FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA or ANSYS or equivalent.
• Solid foundation in mechanical principles to solve thermal analyses with/without finite element tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations to scope higher-detail analysis models.
• Conduct detailed thermal analyses to meet program thermals challenges.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance.
• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models.
• Collaborate with fellow analysts on moderately complex problems within cost/schedule constraints.
• Review work with peers for technical accuracy.
• Present results to internal, external, and government customers.
• Create detailed documentation of work for archival reference.
