Job summary

Element Materials Technology is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer in Daleville, IN to join our advanced testing team. The role focuses on executing a variety of mechanical tests with accuracy, documenting results, and supporting our aerospace and defense customers in achieving reliable product performance.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in a science or testing field with at least two years of related experience, and demonstrates strong analytical, leadership, and laboratory safety skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science degree in a science or testing related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ post-degree engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualifications.
• Demonstrated ability to apply academic knowledge within Element’s business.
• In-depth understanding of testing concepts (Tensile, Stress/Creep, Hardness, Heat Treatment, Bend Testing).
• Working knowledge of laboratory safety.
• High level of expertise in Mechanical Testing scope, theories, concepts and terminology.
• Communication and Leadership skills within a team environment.
• Knowledge of calibrations and ISO environment is a plus.
• Strong drive for continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
• Ability to analyze and compile testing data from tests performed.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine testing assignments with minimal supervision.
• Ensure timely and accurate test results for aerospace/defense customers.
• Apply tensile, hardness, impact, metallography, and weld testing methods as required.
• Operate in ISO/quality-controlled lab environments.
• Assist with calibration and maintenance of test equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and data analysis.
• Communicate test results and observations clearly to team members.
