Leidos Defense is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to plan, execute, and evaluate structural tests of mechanical components and assemblies. You will develop test plans, collect data, and interpret results, ensuring alignment with system requirements and interfaces across mechanical, electrical, and control subsystems.

Ideal candidates bring ABET-accredited mechanical engineering degrees with 4+ years of relevant testing and integration experience, strong written and verbal communication, and

Qualificações

• ABET accredited B.S. or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Four+ years of engineering experience in mechanical engineering, structural testing, or hardware verification.
• Fundamentals: statics, dynamics, strength of materials, stress/strain, load transfer, stiffness, deflection.
• Strong written & verbal communication; ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Ability to work independently while following procedures, safety, and quality requirements.

Responsabilidades

• Support planning, execution, and evaluation of structural tests for mechanical components.
• Develop and review structural test plans, procedures, and data collection requirements.
• Identify unexpected structural behavior, deformation, loading, or test anomalies.
• Support system-level integration and test activities to verify interfaces.
• Translate requirements into executable mechanical and system-level test procedures.
• Support integration of mechanical assemblies with electrical and control subsystems.
• Prepare test reports with objectives, configurations, instrumentation, results, and conclusions.
• Maintain records of hardware configuration, test conditions, and calibration status.
• Communicate technical findings and risks to engineering leads and stakeholders.
• Assess mechanical configurations, fixtures, and loading for test suitability.
• Develop or deploy instrumentation and data interpretation for tests.
• Troubleshoot mechanical hardware and test anomalies using data-driven methods.
