Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Junior Mechanical Test Engineer in Huntsville, AL to support structural testing of mechanical components and assemblies. Qualifications

• ABET accredited B.S. or equivalent in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
• Two+ years of engineering experience in mechanical engineering and structural testing.
• Fundamentals in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, stress/strain, and deflection.
• Strong written and verbal communication across disciplines.
• Ability to work independently with approved procedures and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, preparation, execution, and evaluation of structural tests for mechanical components and assemblies.
• Develop and review test plans and data collection requirements.
• Identify test anomalies and abnormal loading conditions.
• Support system-level integration and test activities for mechanical hardware and interfaces.
• Translate requirements into executable test procedures.
• Assist integration of mechanical with electrical subsystems for testing.
• Participate in test readiness reviews and post-test assessments.
• Prepare test reports documenting objectives, configurations, instrumentation, results and conclusions.
• Maintain accurate records of hardware configuration, test conditions, and deviations.
• Communicate findings and risks to engineering leads and stakeholders.
• Evaluate configurations and load arrangements for test suitability.
• Develop or deploy mechanical instrumentation and data interpretation methods.
• Troubleshoot mechanical hardware and test anomalies using data-driven methods.
