Veolia North America is seeking a Level 3 Maintenance Technician in Minnesota to diagnose and troubleshoot advanced membrane coating equipment, web handling lines, extruders, and packaging lines. You will resolve complex mechanical issues, guide junior technicians, and support safe, reliable production across shifts.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in facility mechanical infrastructure and a boiler certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in facility mechanical infrastructure, utilities, and operation of manufacturing lines and equipment.
• Specials boiler certification within 6 months of hire.
• MN-licensed/unlicensed electrician status to be active within 1 year.
• Team player and contributor with willingness to share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Promote and practice safe work habits.
• Understand manufacturing equipment in assigned areas.
• Communicate effectively with maintenance supervisor; prioritize and hand back work to operations on time.
• Participate in MOC process and assist with emergencies.
• Document work orders; review Preventative Maintenance practices and suggest improvements.

Job Description

The level 3 maintenance technician is an expert maintenance professional responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting on state-of-the-art membrane coating equipment, continuous web handling lines, extruders, automated assembly and packaging lines, and various other manufacturing equipment and resolving complex and previously unseen mechanical issues. This role requires an advanced understanding of facility mechanical infrastructure, utilities, and the mechanical operation of manufacturing lines and equipment. The technician applies strong critical-thinking and problem solving skills to identify root causes, develop effective solutions , and minimize equipment downtime. They may also provide technical guidance to level 1 and level 2 technicians, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility and production systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Promote and demonstrate safe work practices.
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of manufacturing and support equipment in the assigned business areas of the plant.
• Participate in planned weekend coverage and Maintain clear communication with the maintenance supervisor to ensure properly prioritized work is done correctly and is handed back to operations on time.
• Participate in the MOC process, in emergencies providing feedback to others where appropriate.
• Ensure accurate and detailed documentation is put in work orders. Evaluate Preventative Maintenance practices in assigned areas and make improvements through better documentation Promote use of precision maintenance techniques and suggest expansion points of CBM technologies.
• Teach and mentor Maintenance Team and Operations Team in the area to promote equipment care and best work practices.
• Assist Maintenance Technicians with Priority 1 work orders as needed; Priority 1 work is a primary focus of this role
• Utilize CMMS (Maximo) to document unscheduled, scheduled, and completed work.
• Able to flex hours to interface with all shifts and to complete required down days on equipment (if they are completed on a weekend)
• On the rare occasion able to flex hours to help cover the opposite shift on overtime.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in facility mechanical infrastructure, utilities, and the mechanical operation of manufacturing lines and equipment.
• Hold a ‘Specials’ boiler certification within 6 months of employment date.
• Up to date registered unlicensed electrician (state of MN) within 1 year of employment date.
• Be an active team player and contributor, share knowledge, absorb knowledge from others including constructive feedback.

Preferred

• Certification or vocational degree in electronics/PLC, licensed electrician, machinist, engineering, or other technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in facility mechanical infrastructure, utilities, and the mechanical operation of manufacturing lines and equipment.
• Desire to grow into a leadership role and share knowledge with others.
• Demonstrated creativity in identifying problems and developing solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, positive “can do” attitude and safety behaviors.
• Learns, understands and can implement all policies, practices and procedures.
• Self-starter who can work under minimal supervision.

Working Conditions

• 1st shift, rotating 12-hour shifts 6am - 6pm
• The use of machine shop instrumentation and equipment like hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straight edges, multimeters, etc.
• May be on call during the week or on the weekends to support the manufacturing departments

Compensation

The hourly rate of $26.00 - $37.25 USD is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. This role includes an additional $2 per hour for a 12-hour shift working a 2 - 2 - 3 schedule.
