Job Summary
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles, ensuring safety and quality to facilitate timely delivery. Additional responsibilities include performing light to heavy maintenance and service work.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate damaged vehicles to determine repair or service needs and parts replacement.
- Accurately estimate costs for repairs, maintenance, and services.
- Perform advanced, basic, and minor repairs such as brake and hydraulic, exhaust, engine and transmission, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension and alignment, restraints and airbags, air conditioning, and computer systems.
- Follow manufacturer manuals for service and repairs.
- Document all repair and service information in the management system.
- Inspect and test all repairs to meet manufacturer specifications; road test vehicles as required.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure vehicles are on schedule for on-time delivery.
- Maintain a clean work area, proper tool and equipment maintenance, follow safety and OSHA guidelines, and handle hazardous waste properly.
- Continuously update technical knowledge and techniques to stay current with automotive repair technology.
- Attend daily release meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience/Skill Requirements
- 3-5 years of automotive mechanical/electrical diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair experience.
- High School diploma or GED; auto mechanic tech graduate preferred.
- ASE certification or equivalent required; I-CAR training is a plus.
- Experience diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems, including hybrid vehicles.
- Proficiency in using manufacturer service and repair manuals.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to receive instructions and work collaboratively.
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and every other Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, and pull.
- Extended periods of kneeling, bending, and squatting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, sit, and walk as needed.
- Perform repetitive motions.
