Job summary

Dow is seeking a maintenance technician to perform safe, efficient maintenance on rotating equipment and related mechanical systems. You will execute tasks according to job descriptions, obtain permits, and document work orders to prevent downtime.

Responsibilities include hazard assessments, root-cause analysis, and contributing to maintenance planning. A high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of relevant experience are required, with willingness to work weekends or overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of mechanical rotating equipment and flange make-up experience.
• Knowledge of pumps, blowers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Legal work authorization in the United States; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assures that all Maintenance Procedures include a hazard assessment and safety controls.
• Obtain the work permit and complete the job package tasks.
• Investigate root causes if new issues arise during the job.
• Return equipment to operations and document history.
• Assist in maintenance planning and develop maintenance procedures.
• Follow job plans, standard work procedures, and ensure safety.

About This Role

You can execute the maintenance tasks in a safe, efficient and effective way according to the job description.

Responsibilities

• Assures that all Maintenance Procedures include a hazard assessment indicating safety, health and environmental considerations and control measures to prevent contact or exposure.
• Obtain the work permit.
• Perform the task for the job package.
• If significant additional problems are identified during the job that may need a new work order, thoroughly investigate the source/cause of the problem according to the value-added work process.
• Complete the work and return equipment to operations.
• Assist in the analysis to ensure the problem is corrected.
• Apply the skills of respective trade/craft/discipline in executing maintenance work.
• Leverage trade skills to apprentice and other maintenance associates.
• Assist in the development of Maintenance Work Procedures.
• Feedback information on job package quality and Root Cause Analysis data as required.
• Document/record history.
• Assist in maintenance planning.
• Follows job plan to complete work.
• Follows standard work procedures where available.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• A minimum of 2 years of mechanical rotating equipment and flange make up experience.
• Working knowledge of basic process equipment (pumps, blowers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
• Must be willing to work weekends, nights, and holidays, if required.
• Must be willing to work overtime (extra hours beyond your regular scheduled) if required.
• Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
• No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of reciprocating compressors.
• NCCER Certification, Trade School or Associates Degree in a related field.
• SAP experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Office software.

Physical Requirements

• Must be willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be willing and able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Must be willing and able to wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
• Must be willing and able to wear and use respirators.
• Must be willing and able to perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Must be willing and able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.
• Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
• Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
• Work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground.
• Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs. (This typically accommodates individuals who weigh 285 or less)

Skills

• Equipment Maintenance: Performs inspection, repair, installation, and maintenance of rotating equipment, pumps, blowers, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and related mechanical components to ensure reliable operation.
• Troubleshooting: Identifies equipment failures, investigates underlying causes, analyzes mechanical problems, and supports corrective actions to prevent recurring issues and improve reliability.
• Mechanical Principles: Applies knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment operation, flange assembly, and maintenance practices to safely execute repairs and restore equipment performance.
• Preventive Maintenance: Executes planned maintenance activities, follows job plans and procedures, and documents equipment history to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
• Detail Oriented: Maintains a high level of accuracy when reviewing job packages, following maintenance procedures, documenting equipment history, inspecting components, and ensuring work is completed safely and according to established standards.
