Job summary

BD in Sumter, SC seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to provide hands-on mechanical support to production, lead improvements, document changes and ensure safety standards compliance. The role involves design, testing, installation of production lines, and collaboration with vendors and R&D.

Ideal candidates have an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 3 years minimum experience (5+ preferred), and familiarity with AutoCAD, GD&T, and MS Office. Six Sigma is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with 5+ years in manufacturing.
• Highschool diploma with 5+ years manufacturing experience.
• Equivalent education/experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical support to production; lead technical teams.
• Develop and implement plans to reduce waste, defects, downtime and increase capacity.
• Document all modifications; update drawings and specifications.
• Design and implement machine improvements; manage capital equipment projects.
• Support new production lines; install, test, and modify systems.
• Conduct experiments to design semi-automatic and automatic machines.
• Prepare detailed design drawings and cost estimates; develop testing devices.
• Ensure equipment meets codes and standards; verify prior to shipment.
• Coordinate activities with vendors, R&D, and plant departments.
• Mentor machinists and technicians; supervise contractors as needed.
