Compensation: $55,000.00

Job Description

Position is assigned responsibilities involving the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, controls, fixtures and related equipment in facilities.

Typical Functions
  • Services, maintains and repairs HVAC systems that control temperature, humidity, air‑flow and air‑filtering in all types of commercial and light‑commercial buildings.
  • Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs, and implement preventive maintenance programs.
  • Performs scheduled and routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure life‑cycle operation of these systems.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, equipment and refrigerant logs, etc.) to document activities and convey information.
  • Orders and maintains equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of items required to complete installations and repairs.
  • Informs supervisor of work‑order status to provide information for purchasing and scheduling decisions.
Education and Experience

Current Mechanical Journeyman license

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

Knowledge of operation of a variety of heating, air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems; methods, materials, fixtures, tools and equipment used in maintenance; and standard safety precautions in the trade. Ability required to maintain and repair various types of heating, refrigeration and air‑conditioning equipment; ability to install components and provide guidance and training to assigned work crews.

Special Requirements

Licenses/Certificates required: Mechanical Journeyman

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (over 95°F and below 20°F).
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
Conditions of Employment
  • Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check.
  • Contingent on passing a pre‑employment drug & alcohol screening.
  • Considered essential personnel (work during inclement weather).
  • Available to work if called in due to an emergency.
  • Non‑exempt FLSA status.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Tobacco and vape‑free facility.
  • Mechanical Journeyman license and EAP certification or the ability to obtain these within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Travel throughout the state is required, including overnight stays.
  • T1 security clearance (eligibility for national security positions granted to U.S. citizens).
  • This position is federally funded and contingent on continuous federal funding.
