Job summary

Via Separations is seeking a Mechanical Systems Specialist to lead the assembly, fabrication, and build-out of internal test equipment, including skids, pumps, piping, valves, and instrumentation in our lab in Watertown, MA. This hands-on leadership role requires reading engineering drawings, sourcing materials, and safely using hand and shop tools.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on experience with mechanical and piping systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and P&IDs.
• Experience reading specifications.
• Experience ordering materials for fabrication or maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, piping, and basic electrical.
• Knowledge of RO and high-pressure systems.
• Ability to lead tasks and mentor others.
• Able to work independently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and fabricate internal test equipment and skids.
• Read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications for builds.
• Order and track materials for builds with procurement.
• Lead build sequencing and assign tasks.
• Maintain and troubleshoot test skids and assets.
• Coordinate with electricians, plumbers, HVAC for lab systems.
• Ensure safety around hazardous substances and high-pressure equipment.
