Job summary

Via Separations is seeking a Lead Mechanical Technician to lead the build-out of internal test equipment and skids in our Watertown, MA lab. This hands-on role requires reading engineering drawings, sourcing material, and safely handling hazardous liquids and gases while coordinating with engineers and external trades.

You will mentor teammates, drive build sequencing, and ensure quality and safety standards across projects, with occasional travel for field support.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on experience building and maintaining mechanical and piping systems.
• Able to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
• Experience with hand tools, shop equipment, and safe handling of hazardous liquids/gases.
• Experience sourcing materials and coordinating fabrication or maintenance work.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, piping and basic electrical/controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead build and assembly of internal test equipment, skids, pumps and piping systems.
• Read drawings and specifications to plan builds and ensure safety and quality.
• Order and track materials, coordinating with engineering and procurement.
• Coordinate with electricians, plumbers, and HVAC contractors for installations and upgrades.
• Maintain and troubleshoot test skids and lab equipment; mentor teammates; enforce safety.
