Field AI is seeking a Mechanical Systems Internship to design and implement rugged mechanical systems that house sensing and compute platforms for autonomous robotics.

You will collaborate with electrical, compute, and systems engineers to deliver field-ready solutions, from CAD through production. The role emphasizes durability, manufacturability, and documentation, with hands-on prototyping and testing.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD.
• Experience with FEA and thermal modeling.
• Experience designing hardware for harsh field environments.
• Knowledge of CNC, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, and assembly workflows.
• Ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and software teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and model mechanical structures, enclosures, and frames.
• Prototype, test, and iterate mechanical components.
• Collaborate across electrical, compute, and systems engineers.
• Support production, QA, and field deployments.
• Generate mechanical drawings and BOMs.
