BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical System Design Engineer for our Advanced Technologies Office in Lynchburg, VA. This role focuses on system design—not detailed component design—reporting to the Mechanical System Design Supervisor within our multi-disciplinary engineering group.

The position supports programs across Advanced Manufacturing, Medical Radioisotopes and Nuclear Reactor Design, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to ASME fluid standards.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, nuclear or related) or physics is required.
• Minimum of four years of related work experience.
• Technical background in engineering design, fluid systems, thermodynamics and process instrumentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to self-direct with minimal supervision.
• U.S. citizen required.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DOE or DOD security clearance.

Responsabilidades

• Identify system requirements and interface requirements; prepare system design docs and narratives.
• Select components and prepare specifications for detailed design and procurement.
• Design piping systems, line sizing and pressure drop calculations.
• Lead creation of output docs like PFDs, P&IDs and data sheets.
• Use regulations and standards (ASME) for fluid systems.
• Coordinate with systems, electrical, I&C and test engineers.
• Present system design results to internal and external stakeholders.
