Job summary

Southland Holdings is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale industrial and commercial projects in New Mexico. You will oversee piping, plumbing, HVAC, natural gas fitting, and fire protection systems, ensuring safety, quality, and on-schedule delivery in coordination with the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of field experience in mechanical, industrial, or large-scale commercial construction.
• CID licenses MM-2 and MS-12 currently held.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Proven leadership to manage field crews and subcontractors.
• Experience with scheduling and field-management tools.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification and valid driver's license; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day field operations for mechanical scopes of work, including crews, foremen, and subcontractors
• Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules and coordinate sequencing with other trades
• Enforce safety culture with daily huddles, JHAs, and site audits
• Ensure installed work meets contract documents, code requirements, and quality standards
• Coordinate inspections and permitting with CID and other authorities
• Manage labor, materials, tools, and equipment to maximize productivity and control costs
• Review drawings and specs, resolve RFIs and changes with PM
• Maintain daily reports, manpower logs, and progress tracking
• Mentor foremen, journeymen, and apprentices

Position Summary

SA Connects is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale industrial and commercial projects in New Mexico. This role is responsible for the safe, high-quality, and on-schedule execution of mechanical scopes of work — including piping, plumbing, HVAC, natural gas fitting, and fire protection systems — and works closely with the Project Manager to deliver results in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day field operations for mechanical scopes of work, including crews, foremen, and subcontractors
• Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules and coordinate the sequencing of work with other trades
• Enforce Southland's zero-incident safety culture, including daily huddles, job hazard analyses, and site safety audits
• Ensure installed work meets contract documents, code requirements, and quality standards
• Coordinate inspections and permitting activities with the New Mexico Construction Industries Division (CID) and other authorities having jurisdiction
• Manage field labor, materials, tools, and equipment to maximize productivity and control costs
• Review drawings and specifications, identify field conflicts, and partner with the Project Manager to resolve RFIs and changes
• Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, and progress tracking
• Mentor and develop foremen, journeymen, and apprentices

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of field experience in mechanical, industrial, or large-scale commercial construction, with 3+ years in a superintendent or general foreman role
• Must currently hold New Mexico Construction Industries Division (CID) license classifications MM-2 (Natural Gas Fitting) and MS-12 (Fire Protection Sprinkler Systems)
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, including piping, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage field crews and subcontractors
• Working knowledge of scheduling and field management tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera)
• OSHA 30-Hour certification
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout New Mexico

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on large-scale industrial, utility, or mission-critical facility construction
• Experience with MM-98 (Mechanical) scopes of work
• First Aid/CPR certification
