Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Amityville, NY is seeking a Specialist, Mechanical Engineer to lead stress analysis for space and defense programs. You will review environmental conditions from the SOW, size equipment for loads, and apply factors of safety to demonstrate structural integrity under temperature effects.

Responsibilities include performing hand calculations, utilizing FEA with Ansys, conducting dynamic analyses, optimizing geometry, modeling multi-part assemblies, and supporting testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years related experience.
• Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years of related experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform Finite Element Analysis and assess structural integrity.
• Review environmental requirements from the statement of work and TPS.
• Apply appropriate factors of safety to meet program requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and communicate results through reports and presentations.
• Support testing activities and correlate results with analyses.
