Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Sr. Sourcing Specialist, Mechanical (Starshield) in Hawthorne, CA to lead demand planning and strategic sourcing for mechanical hardware in a high-velocity space-focused environment.

You will drive end-to-end supply chain execution, balance cost and lead-time targets, and shape supplier capabilities to scale production for next-generation satellites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, material planning, production planning, supply chain management, or engineering; OR 5+ years in lieu of a degree.
• 2+ years of professional experience in technical sourcing, procurement, or planning
• Familiar with manufacturing processes and machines (mills, lathes, waterjet, laser cutters, sheet metal fabrication)
• Experience with forecasting, demand planning, and lead time analysis
• Experience with ERP systems and managing BOMs, work orders, and purchase orders
• APICS/Six Sigma certification or similar

Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned category
• Forecast demand, evaluate capacity, and manage supply signals to adjust incoming material
• Track high risk components and supplier delivery performance
• Communicate clearly to influence decisions of vendors and senior leadership
• Interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
• Create sourcing strategies for mechanical hardware
• Develop a preferred supplier network to minimize cost and lead time
• Manage outsource fabrication projects and vendor performance
• Onsite reviews of vendor capabilities
• Author contracts with legal department
• Understand interrelationships between contracts and terms
• Utilize negotiations to maximize value and reduce risk
• Travel up to 25%
