Job summary

Quanta Consultancy Services Ltd seeks a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a Washington, DC-based initial 12-month contract in the Life Sciences sector. The role focuses on clean utilities, electrical power systems, and building services integration across large biopharma projects.

Responsibilities include issuing specifications to design contractors, defining deliverables for CD/BD/DD stages, and reviewing contractor responses to ensure alignment with project needs.

Qualifications

• Experience with Electrical Power Systems including site electrical connections, HV/LV systems, generators and UPS.
• Experience with Building Services Systems such as BMS, security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection) and voice/data comms.
• Extensive capital project experience in pharma/biotech is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all relevant specifications are issued to the design contractor in a complete and timely manner.
• Define and agree design deliverables with the design contractor for all project design stages (CD, BD, DD), including required level of detail and review.
• Review the design contractor’s responses to technical requirements to confirm project needs are addressed.
• Prepare project-specific technical requirements to support scope clarity and design progression.

What you’ll deliver:

• Ensure all relevant specifications are issued to the design contractor in a complete and timely manner.


• Define and agree design deliverables with the design contractor for all project design stages (CD, BD, DD), including the required level of detail and review.


• Review the design contractor’s responses to technical requirements to confirm that all project needs have been addressed correctly.


• Prepare project‑specific technical requirements as needed to support scope clarity and design progression.

Experience required:

• Experience working with Electrical Power Systems, including site electrical connections, HV systems, LV main boards, generators, and UPS systems. In addition, candidates should have experience with Building Services Systems, such as Building Management Systems (BMS), security systems (including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection), and voice/data communication systems.


• Extensive relevant capital project experience, with strong technical and execution exposure on major capital investments—ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotech sector.


• Strong track record collaborating with design contractors and equipment suppliers on large‑scale, complex projects, ensuring alignment, quality, and timely delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
