Job summary

Quanta Consultancy Services Ltd seeks an Electrical SME to support a major biopharmaceutical project in Washington, DC on a initial 12-month contract. The role focuses on electrical power systems, building services, IT infrastructure, and working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver capital projects that affect drug substance manufacturing networks.

You will engage stakeholders, define technical requirements, and coordinate with design contractors to ensure timely, accurate design

Qualifications

• Experience with Electrical Power Systems incl. earthing and LV systems.
• Capital project experience, preferably pharma/biotech.
• Proven collaboration with design contractors and equipment suppliers on large projects.

Responsibilities

• Engage with project stakeholders to capture needs for Concept Design (CD).
• Prepare Project Technical Requirements Specifications for all systems.
• Ensure specifications are issued to the design contractor in a timely manner.
• Define and agree design deliverables for CD/BD/DD with required detail.
• Review responses to technical requirements to verify coverage of project needs.

Electrical SME – Washington, DC – Initial 12-Month Contract – Life Sciences

Our client is currently seeking the skills of an Electrical SME to support their team. Our client develops and delivers life changing medicines to millions of people globally and as part of their growth. With their Drug Substance (DS) manufacturing network growing rapidly, they are committed to growing their portfolio of commercial biologics products supplied worldwide – and this is your opportunity to be involved!

What you’ll deliver:

• Engage with key project stakeholders to ensure their needs are understood and accurately reflected in the Concept Design (CD).
• Prepare Project Technical Requirements Specifications for all systems, including performance requirements and applicable project or industry standards.
• Ensure all relevant specifications are issued to the design contractor in a complete and timely manner.
• Define and agree design deliverables with the design contractor for all project design stages (CD, BD, DD), including the required level of detail and review.
• Review the design contractor’s responses to technical requirements to confirm that all project needs have been addressed correctly.

Experience required:

• Experience working with Electrical Power Systems, including power systems earthing, lightning protection, and LV systems, as well as Building Services Systems such as general and emergency lighting, fire detection and alarm systems, and IT infrastructure including structured cabling systems.
• Extensive relevant capital project experience, with strong technical and execution exposure on major capital investments—ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotech sector.
• Strong track record collaborating with design contractors and equipment suppliers on large‑scale, complex projects, ensuring alignment, quality, and timely delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
