Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Mechanical Systems Safety Engineer to oversee mechanical energy isolation at mission-critical data centers.

You will read P&IDs, review specifications, and translate them into safe, field-ready isolation practices; you will not perform locks but will supervise the process to zero energy releases. The role supports the Mechanical Energy Marshal, conducts hazard analyses, trains crews, and coordinates LOTO with safety, GC, client, and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of mechanical field engineering, maintenance, or commissioning.
• Experience reading P&IDs and interpreting specifications.
• Familiarity with Lockout-Tagout and energy isolation practices.
• Ability to supervise and verify absence-of-energy checks in the field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical energy isolation on site for data-center projects.
• Review procedures, permits, and HAZ analyses to ensure safety.
• Coordinate with Electrical Marshals and other stakeholders on interdependent systems.
• Lead pre-isolation and startup meetings; ensure zero-energy state before work.
• Train personnel on mechanical LOTO processes and verify competency.
