Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Mechanical Systems Safety Engineer to oversee safe isolation of mechanical systems at mission-critical data centers.

You will read P&IDs and specifications and translate them into practical field isolation practices, supporting the Mechanical Energy Marshal in daily operations. You will ensure absence-of-energy verification and two-person checks, coordinate with Electrical Marshals and project teams, and train staff in energy isolation processes for continuous safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; with 2+ years in mechanical field engineering.
• Experience reading P&IDs, one-lines, schematics, and construction drawings.
• Hands-on startup/commissioning experience with mechanical equipment or systems.
• Identify isolation-related vulnerabilities via reviews and field walkdowns.
• Understanding of absence-of-energy verification and two-person verification.
• Familiarity with OSHA 1910.147 (Hazardous Energy/Lockout-Tagout).
• Experience with data center or industrial mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site resource for mechanical energy isolation across facilities.
• Review procedures, JHAs, and permits; audit the mechanical isolation program.
• Coordinate with construction/commissioning teams to ensure safe isolation and testing.
• Coordinate LOTO with Electrical Marshals and other stakeholders.
• Lead pre-isolation and startup kickoff meetings for FoK equipment/scenarios.
• Develop and enforce commissioning-related energy isolation practices.
