Job summary

Eurofins USA Food Testing is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, validate, and deploy engineering controls that eliminate workplace hazards across our laboratory network. You will work with operations, maintenance, quality, and EHS teams to convert hazards into scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes hardware design, ergonomics, automation, prototyping, and process improvements to reduce risk while maintaining high lab performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience involving equipment design, product development, manufacturing systems, process improvement, automation, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience taking projects from concept through implementation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
• Experience with fabrication vendors, machine shops, equipment suppliers, or maintenance organizations.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop engineering controls that eliminate or reduce workplace hazards.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles to improve safety, ergonomics, material handling, and equipment operation.
• Develop and validate solutions including lifting devices, ergonomic workstations, equipment modifications, fixtures, guarding, and automated handling.
• Lead projects from concept through implementation and create design packages.
• Develop prototypes, perform testing, and validate performance.
• Coordinate installation, start-up, and deployment activities across laboratories.
• Create implementation guides and standards for network-wide deployment.
