Job summary

Amarillo Gear Company LLC in Covington, LA, is hiring an assembler to assemble gearboxes and components for refurbishment and new builds. You will read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and operate overhead crane and forklift as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3–5 years of mechanical assembly experience, gearbox preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints/diagrams and BOMs.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds and stand/bend for 8 hours.
  • Good written and oral communication.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble gearboxes and components per specifications.
  • Utilize hand held precision measuring tools to verify parts.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure standards are met.
  • Identify defects and document issues.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment per engineering specs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area per 5S principles.

SCOPE: Assemble gearboxes and component parts for refurbishment and assembly.
SPECIAL SKILLS/ Requirements
  • Operate overhead crane and forklift.
  • Use hand held power, hand held precision measuring and manual tools.
  • Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications,

bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble gearboxes/products. Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of mechanical components/assemblies to suggest improvements.
  • Ability to work accurately and thoroughly in a timely manner, while maintaining safety as

a priority.

  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and to think in such a way as to produce

a new concept or idea.

  • Ability to lift and/or push 25 pounds, stand, bend, and squat with repetitive movements for 8

hours.

  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills.
  • Work overtime on an as needed basis.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED. 3-5 years of mechanical

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area per 5S practices.
