Job summary

Amarillo Gear Company LLC in Amarillo, TX is seeking an experienced CNC machinist to operate mills, lathes, and grinders to produce parts per blueprints and engineering specs.

You will read drawings, measure with micrometers and calipers, set up tooling, and verify revision levels, while maintaining safety and 5S practices.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a machining certificate or demonstrable experience, and knowledge of G-code programming.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with machining certificate preferred or demonstrated experience.
• Strong blueprint reading and use of precision measuring equipment.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of G-code programming.

Responsibilities

• Follow set-up sheets and programming notes to set up mills, lathes, grinders, and other CNC machines to produce parts per the blueprint and engineering specifications.
• Run CNC machines to produce parts meeting specifications while meeting production schedules efficiently.
• Verify the shop floor documentation and blueprint have the same revision level.
• Complete work orders in an order specified by the supervisor or scheduling system.
• Optimize cutter and/or insert usage to maximize the number of parts machined while minimizing non-conforming material.
• Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring tools to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
• Clock on and off jobs, enter quantity complete, enter scrap, etc. on the shop floor scheduling system.
• Follow all safety requirements. Read, understand, and always follow job-specific JSA and work safely.
• Sustain the 5S ratings of the work area.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities in the assigned work area.
