Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mechanical Quality Engineer for our client in East London, Eastern Cape. You will develop and implement QC systems, perform inspections, and analyze data to drive continuous improvement across mechanical components and assemblies.

The role requires 3–5 years in manufacturing quality, a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, and strong skills in SPC, data analysis, and problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Proficiency with SPC and data analysis tools.
  • Experience using quality inspection tools and methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust quality control plans for mechanical parts.
  • Conduct inspections of incoming materials, in-process stages and finished goods.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends and drive CAPA actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering/manufacturing to resolve issues and improve design.
  • Lead root cause investigations for defects/non-conformances.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

About the Role

You will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control systems, conducting inspections, analyzing data, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This is a key position for someone passionate about quality assurance, contributing to the excellence of manufactured goods in the vibrant industrial sector of the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement robust quality control plans and procedures for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and improve product design.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for product defects and non-conformances.
  • Ensure compliance with industry quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
