Job summary

KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing seeks a seasoned quality inspector for mechanical construction at an industrial Odessa project. You will inspect piping, equipment, welds, and installations, verify conformance to drawings, specs, and procedures, and coordinate with site teams and commissioning personnel.

Job requires 5+ years in industrial facilities, knowledge of ASME/API standards, and ability to work on site in West Texas. Local travel and extended hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of mechanical construction, fabrication, inspection, or quality experience in industrial facilities.
• Data center or mission-critical experience.
• Knowledge of ASME B31, ASME Section IX, API standards, and project specs.
• Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, weld maps, equipment drawings, and inspection and test plans.
• Experience with inspection reports, material traceability, pressure-test packages, punch lists, nonconformance control, and turnover records.
• Proficiency with common dimensional inspection tools and digital quality-document systems.
• Ability to walk active sites, climb stairs and ladders, and work outdoors in West Texas conditions.

Help Ensure Mechanical Work Meets Project Quality Requirements

Inspect mechanical construction, fabrication, testing, and turnover work at an industrial project. You’ll verify that materials and installations meet approved drawings, specifications, codes, inspection and test plans, and project quality procedures.

What You Will Do

• Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of piping, equipment, supports, bolted connections, welds, coatings interfaces, and mechanical assemblies.
• Verify material identification, heat numbers, certificates of conformance, material test reports, storage conditions, and traceability before installation.
• Review drawings, specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, weld maps, procedures, and inspection and test plans.
• Check welder qualifications, welding procedures, filler-metal control, fit-up, preheat, post-weld requirements, and NDE status as assigned.
• Inspect flange alignment, gasket selection, bolt condition, torque or tension records, piping supports, equipment setting and alignment, lubrication, and preservation.
• Witness pressure tests, flushing, cleaning, reinstatement, leak testing, and mechanical completion checks; verify test boundaries and instrument calibration.
• Prepare inspection reports, test records, punch items, surveillance reports, release notices, and turnover documents.
• Issue and track nonconformance reports and verify approved dispositions and closure.
• Maintain calibration records for inspection and measurement equipment used by the quality team.
• Coordinate inspections with construction, NDE providers, engineering, client representatives, and commissioning personnel.
• Support system walkdowns, turnover package reviews, dossier completion, and final record checks.
• Escalate quality concerns promptly while maintaining inspection independence.

What You Will Bring

• 5 or more years of mechanical construction, fabrication, inspection, or quality experience in industrial facilities
• Data center or mission-critical experience
• Working knowledge of piping and mechanical requirements commonly governed by ASME B31 standards, ASME Section IX, API standards, and project specifications.
• Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, weld maps, equipment drawings, and inspection and test plans.
• Experience with inspection reports, material traceability, pressure-test packages, punch lists, nonconformance control, and turnover records.
• Proficiency with common dimensional inspection tools and digital quality-document systems.
• Ability to walk active sites, climb stairs and ladders, and work outdoors in West Texas conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS CWI, API, ASNT Level II, or ICC certification applicable to the project scope.
• NCCER mechanical craft background.
• Experience with completions-management software.
